Out of the
Chanel Les Exclusifs line, up to now only Ernest Beaux’ 1920s classics were offered
in the extrait. On February 28th, pure perfume versions of three contemporary
Exclusives will be launched.
I will be
doing a draw of 1 ml decants of the three new extraits, drawn from my preview
samples. To enter, please leave a comment listing the three Exclusives you
think will be offered in the extrait. The winner will be the person who has
guessed correctly. If there is more than one right answer, I will ask Miss
Jicky to draw a name. If no one has guessed the three, I’ll move on to comments
with two correct guesses.
The draw
will be open until January 12th, at midnight Paris time. I will
announce the winner in the January 13th post.
Please note that though the vials are small
enough not to raise red flags, many postal services now prohibit the shipping
of perfume by air mail. Therefore, I cannot be held responsible for the
parcel’s safe delivery.
Hello Denyse
RépondreSupprimerA very happy new year to you
My guess for the 3 new extraits are Coromandel - No 18 - Sycomore
Chris
And a happy new year to you too, Chris!
RépondreSupprimerWow, what an intriguing draw I guess 31 Rue Cambon, Coromandel and 1932.
RépondreSupprimerThnks for thr draw!
Parfumista, duly noted!
RépondreSupprimerHappy New Year Denyse! Looooong time lurker here!
RépondreSupprimerMy guess is that 31 RC, Beige and 28 LP will soon be available
in extrait form.
Susan
Happy new year, Susan, glad you de-lurked!
RépondreSupprimerOh! What exciting news! No idea which ones they are, but my guess (and hope):
RépondreSupprimer31 Rue Cambon
Coromandel
1932
With an alternate of No 18. ;-)
Thank you for the draw!
Karin, thanks for your input. It's interesting to find out which extraits would be the most coveted!
RépondreSupprimerDear Denyse a very happy new year to you. I wish it was 31 RC- since I like the edt very much but have a definite longevity issue with it, but my guess is Sycomore, Beige and Jersey.
RépondreSupprimerHappy new year!
RépondreSupprimerThis is a lovely draw. I agree with Perfumista, I think it is going to be 31 Rue Cambon, Coromandel and 1932.
Sarah
And a very happy new year to you too, Asali! I love 31 rue Cambon as well -- it's one of my favorite fragrances, period -- but my longevity issues in the Exclusives are more with 28 La Pausa and Bel Respiro. I thought I had them with 1932 but it turns out that even when I no longer smell it much, other people do, so it's more a matter of perception than long-lastingness.
RépondreSupprimerSarah, happy new year to you too. Your entry is duly noted!
RépondreSupprimeroh my! oh my! oh my! Exciting news!
RépondreSupprimerI think they will be :
31 Rue Cambon
Coromandel
1932
In the end: If they only make 31RC in extrait I will be happy....I've been longing for an extrait since my first whiff of the edt.
Happy Scented New Year!!!!
Daisy, I see you're another 31 rue Cambon fan! A happy new year to you too!
RépondreSupprimerI will also guess 31 Rue Cambon, Coromandel, and 1932, but I wish like crazy they would do 28 La Pausa but don't think they will.
RépondreSupprimerMaren, they're all gorgeous, aren't they?
RépondreSupprimerHappy New Year!
RépondreSupprimerWhat good news from Chanel!
My guess and hopes are:
Coromandel
31 Rue Cambon
28 La Pausa
Happy new year to you too, Karin. It is good news indeed to start 2014 with!
RépondreSupprimerI think releasing a few more extraits is a shrewd move. The world needs more extraits!
RépondreSupprimerFantastic draw - thanks for organising it. My guesses for the three are:
- Coromandel
- La Pausa
- 31 rue Cambon
Happy new year!
Sam
Sam, I couldn't agree more about the world needing more extraits!
RépondreSupprimerMy guesses are 31 Rue Cambon, Sycomore, and Coromandel. (I would also love to see 28 La Pausa as an extrait but have heard rumors that it's being discontinued--do you know if that's true?--so I'm guessing it's unlikely.)
RépondreSupprimer-Janice
Hello Denyse.
RépondreSupprimerI'm new here and this is my first participation, so I hope it will be first time lucky. I'm going to go for 1932, Sycomore and Coromandel.
Happy New Year to you all.
Hi Janice! I've heard no such thing about 28 La Pausa, and I'm not sure I'd be given an answer if it ever was, but I'll enquire.
RépondreSupprimerHello Mary Anne, and welcome! Hope you drop in regularly!
RépondreSupprimerHi Denyse. I'm guessing based on some favorites. 31 Rue Cambon, La Pausa and Coromandel. Thanks for posting this and for the draw!
RépondreSupprimerHi Melissa. Duly noted -- Coromandel and 31 are certainly getting a lot of love!
RépondreSupprimerBeige, Coromandel, and 1932. Thanks!
RépondreSupprimerDagney Betty
Happy New Year, Denyse!
RépondreSupprimerMy guess is 31 Rue Cambon, Beige and Coromandel.
Thanks for the draw!
Happy New Year Denyse!
RépondreSupprimerWhat an exciting news! Chanel is certainly one of my favorite perfume houses.
I'm guessing (and hoping) these three will be available in the parfum form:
- 31 Rue Cambon
- Sycomore
- Coromandel
Thank you for the draw. I can't wait to hear what the correct answer is.
Hello Denyse,
RépondreSupprimerI'll go for my favourites :
- Bois des Iles
- Coromandel
- Cuir de Russie
Thank you and happy new year !
Beige
RépondreSupprimer1932
Jersey
I Hope!
xx
Dagney Betty, my pleasure!
RépondreSupprimerTaffy, happy new year to you too!
RépondreSupprimerHappy New Year!
RépondreSupprimerI think or, rather, I want to believe they would be:
CUIR DE RUSSIE
BOIS DES ILES
NO. 22
Thanks!
AD, those are three of my favorites as well.
RépondreSupprimerTomatefarcie, duly noted!
RépondreSupprimerXX, thanks for joining -- it would be great if you left a name though!
RépondreSupprimerThis is a tricky one :) I will go with: 31 Rue Cambon, no. 18, and La Pausa.
RépondreSupprimerThanks for the giveaway!
Plash, happily the gorgeous Bois des Iles and Cuir de Russie have always been available in the extrait.
RépondreSupprimerWedfadetogray, all three are already available. I own the Cuir de Russie, sure the others are beautiful too.
RépondreSupprimerI never get these things right, but it doesn't hurt to try. Perhaps Bel Respiro, Sycomore, and Beige.
RépondreSupprimerHappy 2014!
xtopher lee, tricky indeed!
RépondreSupprimerhelical gnome, happy 2014 to you too!
RépondreSupprimer
RépondreSupprimer31 Rue Cambon, Coromandel, 28 La Pausa.
I guess . . .
How fun! Thank you!
Minerva
Minerva, I'm glad to see my favorite, 31 rue Cambon, get so many votes!
RépondreSupprimerSorry! of course you are absolutely right. I went to check and there they were, the three of them. I'll start with Cuir de russie and Bois des isles because I have never smelled the extrait form.
RépondreSupprimerThanks :)
Wefadetogray, well at least your favorite are out there already so you can't be disappointed!
RépondreSupprimerRumor has it... 1932, Beige, and Jersey. I would love to smell those, and all the rest as well!
RépondreSupprimerThat sounds wonderful! Coromandel, 22 and 1932 would be my guesses. Hmm, might already have found myself an early birthday gift!
RépondreSupprimerLeathermountain, well, let's see how accurate the rumors are!
RépondreSupprimerElizabeth, N°22 is already available in the extrait, as are the three other 1920s scents. Any one of your picks would make a fabulous birthday gift!
RépondreSupprimerUnfortunately not many of them have great longevity on my skin, but funnily enough 1932 which at first try I thought was the great vanishing act, actually, sprayed with abandon, turned out to stick along for quite a while, albeit very discreetly so, so much the same as your own experience, I think.
RépondreSupprimerIf it turns out to be a 31 RC extrait, I can't wait to test it.
Asali, I find 1932 better-lasting than I used to as well... go figure!
RépondreSupprimerI think the 3 will be: Coromandel, Beige and 28 La Pausa.
RépondreSupprimerHappy new year!I wiah extraits in general would become easier available. My guess is we will see 31 Rue Cambon, Coromandel and 1932 in extrait.
RépondreSupprimerSorry for the typos! I wanted to say I wish extrait would become easier available. Seems the extrait/perfume strength is much more usual in France than in the north of Europe.
RépondreSupprimerBeige
RépondreSupprimerJersey
1932
Ingeborg, it's true extraits are much less widely distributed -- they make much smaller quantities of them. I guess that's part of what makes them more special...
RépondreSupprimerthroades, duly noted!
RépondreSupprimerMarjorie, thank you for your input!
RépondreSupprimerhappy new year to everyone!
RépondreSupprimerMy guesses:
* beige
* coromandel
* sycomore
finger crossed!
Hey Zazie, buon anno to you too!
RépondreSupprimer31 Rue Cambon
RépondreSupprimerCoromandel
1932
happy new year !
And a happy new year to you too, Edith!
RépondreSupprimerHappy New Year!
RépondreSupprimer31 Rue Cambon
Coromandel
1932
Mirela, yet more love for 31, yay! Happy new year to you too.
RépondreSupprimerInteresting topic! With a wild guess I will go for:
RépondreSupprimer31 Rue Cambon
Coromandel
Sycomore
Hopefully someone will guess it correctly! Here's hoping the new versions smell great. Thanks for the draw.
Megan, it seems 31 and Coromandel are the most popular modern Exclusives! And, yes, the extraits smell fabulous...
RépondreSupprimerno. 18, beige and 1932
RépondreSupprimer31 Rue Cambone
RépondreSupprimerCoromandel
Sycomore

RépondreSupprimerThis is such a great way to try to win!
RépondreSupprimerI will guess Coromandel, Sycomore, and Beige.a
Great draw!
RépondreSupprimerMy guess: Coromandel, 28 La Pausa
and 31 rue Cambon
Cheers, Cybele
I think 31 Rue Cambon, 1932 and Coromandel
RépondreSupprimerThanks Laura R.
Bea Biro, gotcha!
RépondreSupprimerMarcsano, wow, another Coromandel and 31 fan!
RépondreSupprimerIsla, glad you enjoy the game!
RépondreSupprimerCybele, thanks for chiming in!
RépondreSupprimerLaura R, those are the three I've been wearing the most lately!
RépondreSupprimerYou are very kind to answer every comment. :)
RépondreSupprimerHi Denyse,
RépondreSupprimerI think: 31 Rue Cambon, Coromandel, Beige :)
Happy New Year!
Krisztina
Happy New Year Krisztina!
RépondreSupprimerI think they will be Coromanal, 31 Rue Cambon, and Bel Respiro. Thank you for the fun draw.
RépondreSupprimerShelly, my pleasure!
RépondreSupprimerMy guess would be La Pausa, Beige and Coromandel.
RépondreSupprimerThanks for offering this draw !
Esperanza
Thank you for the draw.
RépondreSupprimerMy guesses are:
31 Rue Cambon
Bois des Iles
La Pausa
Esperanza, Sabine, thank you both for participating!
RépondreSupprimerI think the new Exclusifs from Chanel will be:
RépondreSupprimer31 Rue Cambon
N° 22
Bel Respiro
I can't wait to find out which ones they are.bThanks for the draw!
Hi Denyse, exciting news.
RépondreSupprimerMy votes go to:
1. 31 rue Cambon
2. Beige
3. Coromandel
Here's my thought process. 31 rue Cambon has received such raves, and Chanel could use another chypre. Ditto for Coromandel and another oriental (to keep up with the likes of Serge Lutens). And Beige is another soft floral, the Chanel trademark, and is also very popular.
I ruled out the following:
Eau de Cologne -- Obviously will stay in the cologne concentration
28 La Pausa -- I would like to see as an extrait because of its longevity issues, but I doubt that it's popular enough to warrant it.
Sycomore -- I ruled this out because most people think it's a masculine, and there aren't many masculines above the EdT concentration.
Chanel no 18 -- This is probably my fourth choice, an ambrette-seed rose, but it's good in the current concentration and I don't think it's all that popular with consumers.
Jersey -- This strikes me as best suited to the EdT concentration.
Bel Respiro -- I doubt Chanel would invest the money in making an extrait of this green floral, as it is hardly a growing perfumery trend, and they've already all but discontinued No 19 in extrait.
1932 -- I haven't smelled this one, but it's so new that I doubt that it's likely.
We'll see how my guesses go...
Mark
Great news and thanks for breaking it, Denyse!
RépondreSupprimerMy votes are: 31 Rue Cambon, Coromandel, Sycomore.
Kingpharroh, N°22 already exists in the extrait, but it would certainly be lovely to have the two others as well in that concentration, wouldn't it?
RépondreSupprimerMark, thank you for sharing your deductive process! The N°19 extrait is not discontinued -- the people at Chanel underlined they consider extraits to be the core of their house -- though it may be harder to find. You're right that green scents aren't the most popular, though from what I hear, the iris-galbanum accord is one of the most highly admired by perfumers.
RépondreSupprimerbluelit8, my pleasure!
RépondreSupprimerThis is such an exciting draw! Thank you for offering it.
RépondreSupprimerI think, and hope, they will be:
Coromandel
Beige
31 Rue Cambon
Denyse, I didn't realize that the galbanum-iris accord was so famous. It shows up in Heure Exquise, too. We can't get no. 19 extrait here in the States, not even at the NYC Saks that sells my coveted Cuir de Russie parfum! :)
RépondreSupprimerI love the blog and learn so much from it. (Are you going to do a takeout on why the Goutal discontinuations and repackaging? I can't believe I haven't heard more chatter)
My guesses are 31 Rue Cambon (please please please), 28 La Pausa, and Bel Respiro.
RépondreSupprimerI will purchase all of them if I'm correct....I adore all.
love,
Bryan
Happy New Year dear Denyse! :)
RépondreSupprimerAnd now, a guessing game.
Hmm, I'll go with Rue Cambon, Bois des Iles and Sycomore.
I do wish they made No 18 as extrait but I'm not putting any hope into that...
Ce commentaire a été supprimé par l'auteur.
RépondreSupprimerGigi, you're welcome. It'll be interesting to compile the votes, no matter what the outcome.
RépondreSupprimerBluelit8, yes indeed, N°19 is held as one of the best perfumes in history by many professionals... As for the new direction Goutal has taken, not sure whether I'll do a specific post about it. The effect of the (relatively) new Korean ownership is kicking in, historic CEO Brigitte Taittinger left a little over a year ago... and the brand is just about 30 years old now. Lots of reasons explain the shake-up -- at least Isabelle Doyen and Camille Goutal are still doing the fragrances!
RépondreSupprimerBryan, wouldn't it be wonderful?
RépondreSupprimerInes, happy new year to you too! Bois des Iles is already available in extrait (though not too widely I imagine). And another vote for 31...!
RépondreSupprimerOoopsie, missed that. :)
RépondreSupprimerThen I'll add La Pausa instead of it.
Gotcha!
RépondreSupprimerHi Denyse, thanks for your response. As Bluelit8 pointed out, I know Chanel no 19 is still available in extrait in Europe, but it's been completely phased out in the USA. They don't even sell the EdP in the US, only the EdT is readily available (and the newer no 19 poudré). Chanel no 19 is my absolute favorite Chanel fragrance, which is why I sound bitter about it! I'm not surprised that perfumers hold it in high regard, but unfortunately, at least in the USA, I guess it doesn't sell, and Chanel certainly hasn't done much to promote it.
RépondreSupprimerMark, I think it's been years since N°19 got any press campaigns here in France... It's a paradox that green fragrances seem to do so badly commercially when "green" is such a buzzword. Still, it hasn't been discontinued, which is more than we can say for Vent Vert, which Interparfums who owns the Balmain couldn't care less about.
RépondreSupprimerI am hoping that the three extraits will be 31 Rue Cambon, 28 La Pausa and Coromandel.
RépondreSupprimer31 RUE CAMBON, SYCOMORE and No:18
RépondreSupprimerBonne Annee a tout le monde!
Phanie
Tatiana, lovely picks!
RépondreSupprimerBonne année à vous aussi, Phanie.
RépondreSupprimerHappy New Year! This is very exciting news! My guess for the three new extraits is:
RépondreSupprimerCoromandel
Beige
31 Rue Cambon
Thanks for the chance to win them!
If the Twitter excitement is correct then the three are Jersey, Beige and 1932.
RépondreSupprimerLovely choices.
Hasnain
BPerfumed, happy new year to you too!
RépondreSupprimerHasnain, haven't been on Twitter much... who knows?
RépondreSupprimerHello,
RépondreSupprimerMy guesses are 31 Rue Cambon, Jersey, and 1932.
Jan
Jan, thanks for joining the guessing game!
RépondreSupprimerI would go for 1932, Jersey and Beige.
RépondreSupprimerWhy? Cause usually company does not always listening to customers's opinions (example- Dior, why are you axed Mitzah?)
Hello,
RépondreSupprimerI go for Beige, Jersey and 1932, please.
